Gerald W. Betlach, 74 of River Falls, died July 15, 2004 of cancer.

The son of John and Mary (Kryzer) Betlach, he was born June 13, 1930 in River Falls.

Mr. Betlach served in the Army National Guard for 26 years. He retired brom Niro after 25 years and also worked at 3M and Erickson Industries.

Mr. Betlach was president of the St. Bridget Home and School Association, Governor of the Royal Order of Moose and member of the American Legion.

His family said he was a loyal Green Bay Packers fan, enjoyed deer hunting and camping. They said he will be remembered for a great sense of humor and his practical jokes.

Spending winters in Texas, he enjoyed playing shuffleboard and cards.

Mr. Betlach was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Betlach; sister, Irene Jensen and infant sister, Mary Elaine.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; daughters: Deb (Steve)Wros of River Falls and Rita (Paul) Rodriguez of Grand Rapids, Mich.; son: David (Shirley) Betlach of River Falls; brother: Leroy (Helen) Betlach of River Falls; sister: Bernice Betlach Krear of River Falls; grandchildren: Kristin and Patrick Wros, Teresa and Nick Rodriguez and REbecca Betlach; nieces and nephews and friends.

A funeral service was held July 19 at St. Bridget Church with Fr. Jerry Harris officiating.

Interment was at the church cemetery with pallbearers: Kristin Wros, Patrick Wros, Nicholas Rodriguez, Wayne Betlach, Richard Jensen, and James Krear. Honorary pallbearers included Loren (Beaner) Frey, Duane Jensen, Ronald Pace, Robert Enloe and Jim Killian.
